Even Former Michigan Defensemen Are Getting Hurt

Add Jack Johnson to the list of wounded defensemen.
Johnson, who last played for the Wolverines in the 2006-07 season, now plays for the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings definitely started their season on the wrong foot. First, they lost their opening two games, a home-and-home set, to the San Jose Sharks. In the Sunday game, Johnson had to come out early in the second period. He’d been hurt late in the first, and only played one shift of the second.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Kings coach Terry Murray called it “an upper-extremity injury” (hockey coaches are typically vague, since being more specific about injuries can lead to opponents targeting a hurt player in the most vulnerable spot). A Times reporter said Johnson was carefully cradling his arm close to his body after the game, but Murray had not been told the full extent of the damage.
